A man has died in a workplace accident in West Clare this afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after midday near the village of Doonaha.

Two units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Services from Kilkee station along with National Ambulance Services resources were sent to the scene this afternoon.

A Garda spokesman confirmed that their members also attended the incident and that Health and Safety Authority and county coroner have been informed.

The man’s body has been removed from the scene to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The HSA confirmed that “the authority is aware of, and is investigating, the incident.”
