Man Dies In Road Crash In Clare

A man in his early fifties has died following a road crash in Clare overnight.

The main road between Quin and Dromoland remains closed this morning following the single car collision at Castlefergus.

Emergency services were alerted shortly before 9 o’clock last night after a car collided with a wall near Castlefergus, on the main road between Quin and Dromoland.

Two units of the fire brigade from Shannon Town, Gardaí and responded to the incident and fire service first responders treated casualty until ambulance paramedics arrived.

A man in his fifties was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.

The L3148, which connects Quin with the Dromland interchange on the motorway, will remain closed until mid-morning to facilitate a technical examination carried out by forensic collision investigators.
