Man dies after fall off rocks near Doolin

It’s understood a man who died after falling into the sea off County Clare was originally from France, but had been living in Ireland for some time.

The man – believed to be in his forties – was seen falling from rocks at Ballyreen in the north west of the county at around five o’clock last evening.

He was taken from the water by the Irish Coastguard helicopter, and airlifted to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick – but died a short time later.
