France’s president elect has promised to unite a divided country.
The pro-EU centrist Emmanuel Macron swept to power in last night’s run off, taking around two-thirds of the vote against the far right’s Marine Le Pen.
In his victory speech, the 39 year old declared a “new page of the country’s history is opening”.
