Decriminalise Drugs And Their Use Will Drop – Ryan

An Ennis local election candidate insists the decriminalisation of drugs in Ireland would see a massive reduction in problem drug use here.

Labour’s Séamus Ryan is calling for a drugs detox unit to be put in place at Ennis General Hospital, to shift the mindset of drugs from being a criminal issue to a medical one.

A similar system has been in place in Portugal since 2001 and, in that time, the level of substance abuse in the country has dropped significantly.
