Local authority forks out almost 4 million in legal fees over three years

Clare County Council has spent over 3.7 million Euro in legal fees in the past three years.

An audit of the council’s legal bills has shown that almost 1.2 million Euro of the money was spent last year, and that nearly 2.2 million of this money was taken by one Ennis legal firm alone.  (Michael Houlihan and Partners)

The majority of the funds have been incurred in capital projects such as roads, though more than a third of it has been spent in general budget areas such as housing.
