The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is continuing to fall.

The latest INMO figures show 38 patients were left waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 29 of those in the Emergency Department.

The overall figure is down from a peak of 66 earlier in the week, though the Dooradoyle facility remains the busiest in the country with 11 more patients waiting to be admitted than the next busiest hospital.

In contrast, the HSE’s TrolleyGAR statistics show just 15 people waiting to be admitted.
