A leading Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine is urging people in Clare not to become complacent over the coming months, warning that while the covid-19 vaccine provides a light at the end of the tunnel, it’s a long tunnel.

Dr Catherine Motherway, who’s based at University Hospital Limerick, is reminding people that until the vaccine programme is completed and has succeeded, people will still have to live very different lives.

The vaccine has begun being distributed to at-risk groups first and the Taoiseach has signalled that it could take until August before there is mass vaccination.

Dr Motherway says this is only one method of controlling the spread of the virus and that people must continue to follow public health advice in the meantime.
