Landowners Warned Over Burning

The Irish Wildlife Trust is reminding people in the region that it is illegal to engage in burning on their land between March and August. 

The group says between the 19th and 25th of April it received reports of 19 seperate wildfires across Ireland, including two on the Slieve Aughty Mountains.

It follows a major blaze spanning 100 acres of land north of Lissycasey last weekend. 

Padraic Fogarty from the IWT says such fires have a devastating impact on wildlife as well posing severe danager to people and property and it's time for authorities to get tough.
