It’s claimed a lack of parking in Tulla is affecting the economy of the town.

Business owners and locals want a car park to be put in place, as the majority of vehicles park alongside the Main Street, leading to congestion.

The lack of central parking in Tulla has been raised a number of times in recent years, with some business owners claiming it’s having a negative impact on trade.

At the moment, most customers park along the Main Street, where the majority of businesses are located, leading to traffic disruption.

Morna Toibin has run Tulla Pharmacy on the Main Street for 30 years – she outlines when the problem is at its worst.

East Clare Fine Gael Councillor Joe Cooney has raised the issue several times at council meetings – saying it is affecting visitors and residents alike.

He wants to see a parking and traffic management plan put in place.

Local butcher Liam O’Meara agrees – and is calling on Clare County Council to give Tulla a car park to alleviate the problem.

These people on the streets of Tulla have been telling me how it’s affecting their daily lives.

Clare County Council says it will consider any proposals to support more effective parking management, including the provision of additional parking if deemed necessary.
