Gardaí in Kilrush have confiscated a kitten which is to be re-homed, following an investigation into a graphic video of animal cruelty that went viral online.
The video, which was recorded on Snapchat and shared thousands of times on other social networks, is thought to have been recorded in West Clare.
Gardaí say the incident has been investigated in full, with all of the parties involved spoken to.

The cat has been examined by a vet and is uninjured but will now be rehomed, with Gardaí satisfied its welfare is being attended to.
A report will be forwarded to the Kilrush superintendent seeking direction on possible prosecution.
