Killaloe ALDI Decision To Be Made In October

A decision on the proposed ALDI in Killaloe is due to be made in October this year.

The German supermarket chain had secured permission at the second time of asking to construct a supermarket on Abbey street, next to the protected Deanery structure, but this has been met with further opposition.

The council gave the go-ahead in May for the single storey discount foodstore, which will include 87 car parking spaces but the decision has been appealed to the planning authority by Bill and Maureen Kenny, John Daly and Michael and Joan Gough.

The reasons for their appeal are not yet known but both the Kenny’s and Mr Daly, who run retail stores locally, previously objected to the development on the grounds that it would damage existing businesses and compound traffic issues.
