Kilkee Woman Faced With Losing Access To Treatment Patches For Chronic Pain

A Kilkee woman who faces losing patches to treat her chronic back pain says she may as well have “her limbs cut off” if she can’t access the treatment.

Since the end of last year, new HSE rules have meant that access to Versatis patches have been restricted and are no longer covered for many medical card patients.

This means Jennifer O’Meara faces the prospect of having to pay for the expensive patches out of her own pocket – something she insists would mean she would be unable to feed her family.
