Just two on-the-spot fines were issued in Clare for dog fouling in each of the past two years.
In 2017, and so far this year, two dog walkers were issued the €150 fine with one paying up and one appealing in each case.
Though the number is low, it is up from 2016 when there were no fines handed out and comes as the local authority here pushes its Green Dog Walkers scheme.
