Irish Water Safety Issues Stark Warning For Bank Holiday Weekend

People flocking to Clare’s coasts as temperatures rise once again this weekend are being urged not to underestimate the danger that the water presents.

So far this year, 49 people have lost their lives in Ireland’s waters, with this summer said to be the busiest bathing season in memory.

Since the beginning of June, 149 lives have been saved by lifeguards around Ireland, with first aid administered to almost 1,200.
