Irish Rail Urged To Address Ballycar Flooding Issues

A local rail campaign group is urging the government to properly address flooding issues on the Limerick to Ennis rail line.

The line is re-opening this morning after the latest bout of flooding at Ballycar, near Newmarket on Fergus, finally subsided.

It had been out of service for around two months, and while some works have been carried out there in recent years, Irish Rail estimates that a full solution would cost around 10 million euro.

However, Michael O’Doherty of West on Track thinks that’s money that should be spent before that bill rises even further.
