An investigation is underway following the discovery of a distressed dog in an overheated car in Clare.

Gardaí were called to the scene after members of the public became concerned about the dog, which was found in a car parked in a hotel car park in Ennis yesterday.

Gardaí broke a window to free the pet and Clare’s county dog warden, who was also alerted, took the animal into care where a full examination was carried out by a vet.
