Inquest Into Death Of Young Girl Hears Kind Acts Of Clare Doctor

A good Samaritan doctor from Newmarket on Fergus has described as “heartbreaking” the situation faced by three young women who were faced with staying in a near empty Limerick hotel following the sudden death of their ten year old sister.

Dr Colm Hackett was called to Shannon Airport after an aircraft travelling from Canada to London diverted there as the young girl was ill on board.

She lost her life, but the compassion shown by many people in Clare, including Dr. Hackett, has led to a close.

Dr Colm Hackett was on call with ShannonDoc last Christmas Eve when he was alerted to an emergency on board a flight which diverted to Shannon Airport.

10 year-old Madra Yuadoo Michael was travelling from Toronto in Canada to London with her three older sisters, when she died as a result of septicaemia – an infection of the blood.

Their mother had gone on ahead to Nigeria to plan a fiftieth wedding anniversary party for their grandparents.

Having become concerned for Madra’s distraught sisters Deliah, Ester, and Sabrina, all in their twenties, after checking in with them later that night, Dr Hacket and his family invited them into their home, where they remained for a week.

Their mother was flown into Shannon from Nigeria and following a postmortem, Madra’s remains were brought to their Newmarket on Fergus home, where the Hackett’s hosted a full Irish wake in their house.

The Hackett Family have remained in touch with the Michael’s and one of the doctors daughters will be travelling with Garda Ailish Haley to Canada in the coming weeks to meet with them.

Dr Hackett says they’re looking forward to the trip.
