South East Clare Water Mains Troubled By Ongoing Bursts To Be Replaced

Work on a water mains in South East Clare that has been subject to a considerable number of bursts is progressing.

Irish Water has confirmed that works on a one kilometre stretch of pipe mains from Athlunkard Bridge, serving the Parteen/Westbury area are advancing to the design stage.

Work is due to be carried out on a phased basis as part of the utility’s 2021 mains rehab programme.

Hundreds of households in the locality were left without water on a number of occasions in recent years and local Independent Councillor Michael Begley says the works are a welcome development, but he’s doubtful it’ll be completed this year.
