The Oireachtas Communications Committee has signed off on an investigation into the National Broadband Plan.
The committee, which will look into the process for the plan so far as well as the best way to roll out rural broadband, is due to complete its work within 8 weeks.
It follows a proposal by Clare’s Fianna Fáil TD, who wants reassurances that the process was conducted in a transparent manner and in the taxpayer’s best interests.
Deputy Timmy Dooley says the investigation is necessary:
The Clare-based CEO of Muintir na Tíre, Neil Garvey, believes the process should push ahead in it’s current form, saying it’s been delayed for long enough.
