A €2.9 million funding allocation for national roads in Clare has been described as an insult to the local authority.

€450 million in funding has been issued through Transport Infrastructure Ireland to all local authorities in the country, with €2.3 million of the funding allocated for improvement works on Clare roads and a further €600,000 for maintenance.

The level of funding in Clare is €1 million less than in 2019 and significantly less than our neighbouring counties, with €15.7 million going to Limerick, €6.2 million to Tipperary and 28.8 million to Galway county.
