Irish Water Fails To Commit To Timeline To Address Westbury Water Issues

Irish Water has failed to give a timeline on a long-term solution to address persistent water issues affecting a South East Clare community.

The water mains serving the Westbury estate, which is home to around 1,000 houses, has burst at least three times in recent days, leaving homes and businesses without supply, in some cases, for days on end.

The most recent outage happened on Monday and last week’s saw a number of local playschools and Athlunkard Nursing Home left without supply.


There are now calls for the entire water mains to be replaced to deal with the problem once and for all but Asset Operations Lead for Clare Duane O’Brien says while it will be considered in their capital programme, there is no firm timeline yet:
