Clarity Sought On Funding For Second Phase Of Limerick Northern Distributor Road

Clarity has been sought on the provision of funding for the second phase of the Limerick Northern Distributor Road.

A recommendation has been sent to the Minister for Transport to approve the first phase of the 150 million euro route, which will link Clare with the University of Limerick, and Minister for International and Road Transport and Logistics, Hildegard Naughton says the contract is ready to be awarded.

However, concern has emerged over the second phase of the project, after it wasn’t included in Budget 2021 and Clare’s Government TD’s, Fianna Fáil’s Cathal Crowe and Fine Gael’s Joe Carey have stressed the importance of the infrastructure project to the Clare and Limerick area.
