Calls For Crusheen Rail Stop Rejected Once More

Hopes that Irish Rail will develop a new rail stop in Crusheen have been dealt a further setback.

Local campaigners have been fighting for over a decade for a stop at Crusheen to be included on the Ennis-Athenry line, and say it could be added to the existing line for relatively low cost.

But, responding to a parliamentary question, Irish Rail CEO Jim Meade, who hails from Sixmilebridge, has told Clare Independent TD Michael Harty that the money simply isn’t there, even though the case is being kept under review.
