There’s been a significant increase in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital today.

The latest figures from the INMO show 40 people are waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick, 23 of those in the emergency department.

It’s in stark contrast with yesterday, when 16 people were waiting on admission, one of the lowest levels in the country.
