The Irish Greyhound Board has admitted that it has lost over one million euro on the purchase of a site at Meelick.

The land was bought in 2005 as a potential site for a new greyhound stadium, and Bord na gCon paid 1.5 million euro for the land.

However, there are flooding issues on the site and it has no road access, and IGB officials have told the Dáil’s Public Accounts Committee that it is now worth just 100 thousand euro.
