HSE Reassure Clare Representatives St Joseph’s Is Still Viable

HSE Mid-West has moved to reassure Clare’s elected representatives that St Joseph’s Hospital in Ennis is still a viable facility.

It follows a HIQA report which found major non-compliance in three areas and noted that the centre appeared “institutionalised”.

The HSE took the unusual step to write to each councillor following concerns raised by Cathaoirleach Tom McNamara.

Last month at Ennis District Court, an agreement was reached between the HSE and HIQA to keep the facility open to new admissions – and that the HSE would continue with a planned refurbishment, due to be completed by 2021.
