HSE Confirms COVID Cluster In Ennis As 8 New Cases Recorded In Clare

A Clare GP is warning that the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the county should act as a wake-up call for everyone here.

The National Public Health Emergency Team was informed of eight new cases in Clare last night, the first time since the beginning of June that as many cases were announced on one day.

The HSE has confirmed that all eight cases are new, and that some of them relate to a cluster in the Ennis area.

It follows on from the three additional cases announced on Sunday, which brought a five-week run of being COVID-free to an end and now brings the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in this county to 380.

Shannon GP, Dr Yvonne Williams has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that a large portion of new cases were people who were asymptomatic.
