HSE accused of neglect Clare mental health services

The HSE has been accused of merely offering lip service to it’s own recommendation by not providing a secure psychiatric unit for patients in Clare and the wider Western region

The Executive published it’s ‘a vision for change’ document in 2006, which said that an Intensive Care Rehabilitation Unit, and two High Support Residences for psychiatric care was to be opened in the West.

However, six years later, officials now admit that they have not even identified a suitable location.
