Howard – Crime Still Low In Clare

The Chair of Clare’ Joint Policing Committee says crime levels this year have fallen when compared with the beginning of 2018.

The comments from Ennis Councillor Mary Howard come after newly-released CSO figures showed an increase in the number of thefts and burglaries in the town last year.

While Ennis understandably saw the highest amount of burglaries and thefts in Clare, the rate of increase of these crimes was also higher than the county average.

However, Councillor Howard says she still regards crime levels here as low, and has outlined new figures which show an improvement this year.
