Property Market Remaining Robust Despite Pandemic

Clare’s property market remained robust last year, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The overall number of properties sold fell somewhat, but typical prices rose.

Though the pandemic has put the brakes on house viewings and other aspects of a typical house purchase, the CSO says 1,298 homes here changed hands last year.

That’s more than the number from 2018, though it does mark a reduction of nearly 10% when compared with 2019.

Prices remained solid, meanwhile, with the figures also showing that the mean and median prices for homes here increased by four- and five thousand euro respectively last year.

The average price paid for a home in the county was €162,474.

In West Clare, average prices stood at just under €154,000 for areas covered by the Kilrush V95 Eircode routing key, while for areas under the V95 key for Ennis they stood at €206,500.

A number of market analysts have also forecast that house prices will rise further over the coming months.
