Midwest Simon Calls For Government Dialogue With Owners Of Vacant Homes

The CEO of Midwest Simon is calling on the government to open up a dialogue with owners of vacant houses to start seriously addressing the homelessness crisis.

The latest report from the Department of Housing, which covers January, has revealed that the overall number of homeless people nationwide now has surpassed 10,000 once again.

Here in Clare, there are now 73 adults without a permanent roof over their heads, a rise of five in the space of a month, while there are 147 children across the Midwest in emergency accommodation – a figure that’s risen by a quarter in a year.
