The Housing Minister has released his Department’s latest homelessness figures for the month of September, which show that over the past 12 months, the number of homeless people nationwide has risen by 7% to 10,387.

However, in that same period, the number of people across the Midwest without a permanent home has fallen.

As of the end of last month, 324 adults in Clare and Limerick were classed as homeless, down from 354 a year ago.

The number of children in emergency accommodation in Clare has risen slightly though; from 66 in September of last year to 70 now.

This also means two more children entered homelessness here across the month of September.
