Council Hears Clare Rents ‘Off The Scale’

Clare County Council has adopted a motion calling on the government to put legislation in place to address the rising cost of rents.

The Fianna Fáil-led motion was passed by the local authority, with some members describing the costs of rents here as being ‘off the scale’ and ‘absolute lunacy’ and others calling for the county to be declared as a Rental Pressure Zone.

Last month, a report outlined how the average annual costs of rent have increased in Clare by over €1,000 in the past year.
