Concern That Asylum Seekers Will Be Housed Long Term In Emergency Accommodation

Concern is being expressed in Clare that emergency accommodation for asylum seekers leaving direct provision centres will become a more long-term solution.

New figures have revealed that over 700 people across the country who have passed through the direct provision system are being housed in such accommodation, due to the housing crisis.

The Central Hostel in Miltown Malbay is one of a number of properties nationwide operating as emergency accommodation for asylum seekers, with up to 20 currently living there.
