Carey Calls For Tax Incentives For Vacant Properties

A Clare election candidate is calling for a tax incentive to be introduced to encourage owners of vacant properties in rural Ireland to bring them back into use.

Joe Carey says it’s time empty buildings in small towns and villages were stopped from falling into dilapidation and brought up to a standard to allow them be used as a home.

He feels with the current housing needs of the country, coupled with the fact that rural areas are said to be dying on their feet, this could prove a double edged sword.
