Fresh calls have been made for Clare to be declared a rent pressure zone.
It’s after 19 new zones have come into affect in 11 counties, which means it will be a criminal offence for a landlord in those areas to increase rent by more than 4 per cent a year.
Landlords who breach the rules in those areas could be fined up to 30,000 euro.
