6% Fall In Homeless Adults In Clare

Homeless numbers in the Midwest have fallen in the space of a month, despite an increase nationally.

The latest figures from the Department of Housing show there were 68 homeless adults in Clare at the end of August, representing a 6% drop on July’s figures.

Homeless figures across the country are continuing to rise with over 10,300 people living in emergency accommodation nationally.

But despite this, the latest figures from the Department of Housing show the number of homeless adults in the Midwest actually decreased in the month of August.

There were 323 men and women without a permanent roof over their head at the end of the month, 68 of those in Clare alone.

The Clare figure is on par with the same month in 2018, but represents a drop of 5 on July’s figures.

The number of families living in B&B’s, hostels and hotels in this county and Limerick also dropped in August, to 76.

While, there were 141 children in emergency accommodation, down 13 on the previous month.
