A total of 56 new homes were completed in Clare in the first quarter of this year.

Figures released by the CSO show that this is the same number as the final quarter of 2018, with the vast majority being private homes but West Clare’s figures remain extremely low.

The CSO’s latest data shows that from January to March of this year, 56 homes were brought to completion in Clare.

That marks a drop of just one home on the same period last year.

In a breakdown of the county’s regions, it appears the pace of building in West Clare remains low.

Just six homes were completed in the V15 Eircode in that time – that’s Kilrush and the surrounding areas – versus 39 in the V95 code, which is Ennis and North Clare.

The remaining nine homes were finished in the East of the county.

42 of the new homes were single dwellings – in other words private homes – while 14 were in schemes.

There were no new apartments added to the county’s housing stock in that time.
