Hopes That New €200m EU Loan Scheme Will Speed Up Work On Ennis Flood Relief Scheme

A Clarecastle Councillor is hopeful newly-announced European funding will speed up work on the Ennis South Flood Relief Scheme.

The European Investment Bank yesterday announced 200million euro in loans to the Irish Government be used for 30 prevention and protection projects around Ireland over the next 5 years.

The Ennis Scheme will see works carried out in Clonroadmore, Ballybeg and Clareabbey, in order to establish long term defences to flooding, however the project has been hit by delays in recent months. 

Fine Gael's Paul Murphy hopes this new funding will mean work begin soon on the project.
