Hopes Clare Could Be First County To Outlaw Swimming During Weather Warning

Clare could become the first county in Ireland to make it an offence to enter the water during a weather alert.

Clare County Council is examining the prospect of amending the beach by-laws in this county so that those who endanger first responders’ lives in stormy conditions can be penalised.

Emergency services were on hand to assist people who got into the sea during Storm Ophelia – despite a red weather warning being in place.
