Higher Than Usual Turnout In Clare For Referendum So Far

Polling stations around Clare are expected to see a spike in voters this lunchtime, as polling continues in the historic abortion referendum.

Turnout in most places is said to be steady so far, with many areas reporting a higher than usual number coming in early in the day.

Shannon has seen around 12 percent turnout at this point, while one of the two Barefield stations has some some 19 percent already.

Clarecastle is also said to be steady, while Ennis has been busy so far.

Over in West Clare, Mullagh has seen a turnout of around 12 percent so far, which is slightly behind for this stage of the day on other referendums.

Kilkee has seen 10 percent so far, Quilty is on around 12 percent also while Inagh is on around 15 percent.
