High Volumes Of Patients Attending Region’s Main Hospital

Nurses say the region’s main hospital remains the most overcrowded in the country, despite a fall in trolley numbers.

The latest INMO figures show there were 48 patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 27 of those in the emergency Department.

It’s down from a peak of 63 yesterday, with the overall figures twenty more than the next busiest hospital in the country today.

The UL Hospitals Group yesterday said the Dooradoyle facility is experiencing high volumes of acutely ill patients attending and is encouraging people to visit their GP in the first instance and to use the injury unit at Ennis.
