Heritage Workers Need To Know What Lies Ahead Beyond 2020 – McGettigan

A Shannon Councillor says workers at Clare’s heritage sites need clarity on where their futures lie beyond the end of this year.

Earlier this week, Shannon Heritage received a €2.6 million funding boost, allowing it to keep Bunratty and King John’s Castles open until the end of 2020 – well short of the 6.4 million euro parent company Shannon Group claimed was needed to keep the sites open until June 2021.

SIPTU has cautiously welcomed the move, saying it provides a window of opportunity to save the jobs of 60 full time staff across the sites.
