The UL Hospitals Group is warning of a “second wave” of flu, which is making its way to Ireland.

Influenza has already been in part to blame for this week’s record trolley numbers, with 92 patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick on Monday alone.

Those figures have dropped daily since then, with 44 on trolleys at the Dooradoyle facility today, less than half of Monday’s peak but still, UHL is the busiest hospital in the country.
