Trolley Numbers At UHL More Than Double The Next Busiest Facility

The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is more than twice that of the next busiest facility in the country today.

The latest INMO figures show 73 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 43 of those on trolleys in the emergency Department alone.

The overall figure is 39 more than the next busiest facility.

Trolley numbers have remained persistently high this week, which the UL Hospitals Group has blamed on high patient attendances coupled with delayed discharges, and has appealed to people not to attend the ED unless it’s an emergency.
