Newmarket GP Appointment Expected By End Of June

A full-time GP service is set to return to Newmarket-on-Fergus by the end of June.

Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey says he’s been told by the HSE that the recruitment of a new GP for the village is at an advanced stage, adding that the news will be welcome particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fears had been expressed locally that the position would not be filled, as it was last May when the former GP Dr Colm Hackett retired.
