New Clinical Assessment Unit To Open In Clare For COVID-19 Patients

HSE Midwest is opening Clinical Assessment Units at three locations in Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary, as part of the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Patients who receive a positive result from COVID-19 testing, will be assessed at the unit, by a team of doctors, nurses and physiotherapists, after being referred by their GP.

The aim of these Clinical Assessment Units is to divert patients with mild symptoms away from the acute hospital system, to a unit where they can be assessed by a team of nurses, doctors and physiotherapists.

Here in Clare, there will be one at the Shannon Health Centre, while two more are located in the Southill Health Centre in Limerick and Cre House Health Centre in Tipperary.

They’ll operate seven days a week from 7.30am to 8.30pm.

But patients are being advised that the service will be by appointment only, and that only patients referred by their GP will be seen.
