Investment In Ennis Hospital Needed To Curb Growing Surgical Day Case Lists

A lack of investment in surgical facilities at Ennis General Hospital, coupled with capacity and recruitment difficulties in Dooradoyle is being blamed for lengthy waiting lists for a common surgical procedure.

It’s emerged that Clare patients are having to wait three times longer than other counties to have their tonsils removed, with 37 people waiting just over 9 months.

Minister Simon Harris has also revealed that 12 are waiting over a year and 4 at least 18 months for the procedure, which is most common among children.
