Health Minister Commits To Extension Of Terminal Illness Card Following Clare Man’s Campaign

The Health Minster has committed to extending the terminal illness card, on foot of a campaign by a Clare man.

John Wall, from Quin, who’s living with terminal cancer, mounted his campaign after his medical card was twice revoked and since then the Ombudsman has begun looking into the operation of the scheme.

John yesterday met with Health Minister Simon Harris and his team at the Department of Health where he secured an apology from both the Department and the HSE.

The Health Minister has also committed to a significant review of the application process, as well of an extension to terminal illness cards beyond 12 months.
